Wayne Powers: The Voice

It communicates. It entertains. It sells.

Wayne is a man of many voices, (we've never counted), but you've certainly heard them in radio, television and film, from commercials to animation to narration to adr looping and even completely re-voicing on-camera characters for film and TV.

Powers was the voice of Budman for Budweiser. He supplied the voice of Boss Hogg for the popular "Dukes of Hazzard" computer games.

His animation work includes "Tale of Tillie's Dragon," "Dennis the Menace," and
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

A veteran of hundreds of television and radio commercials, you can hear him currently as one of those two hilariously delinquent birds on the long-running and very popular Windex TV commercials.

Powers has also recently been busy voicing the acclaimed Max Lucado 3-D animation series, "Hermie: A Common Caterpillar," with Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Harvey Korman and Melissa Disney, where Powers portays Schneider the Snail, among other characters.

Wayne is also reprising his role of Uncle St. George, (this time, Uncle St. George sings!), and also creating several new characters for the upcoming "Tale of Tillie's Dragon II".

Professional Voiceover Workshop

Since moving to Charlotte several years ago, Powers has continued to be very active in voiceover, as a talent, writer, producer and director.   He has been contracted to privately coach on-air talent in both radio and television in the Charlotte market and has periodically directed several professional voiceover workshops at Charlotte recording studios.

These workshops establish a safe controlled environment in the studio where Powers utilizes extensive recording and focused direction to teach the creative process as applied to the medium of voiceover.

The workshop, while strictly limited in size, is usually comprised of a spectrum of experience levels, from "never been in front of a microphone before" to current on-air voice talent.

Members do NOT learn "how to sound like a radio announcer."

Members do NOT learn "how to acquire or lose an accent."

The focus IS on a natural style and sound, enabling each member to find his or her own true voice.

This is achieved by a process Powers has devised, revised, uses in his own work with great success and has periodically taught for over 25 years...

...discarding restrictive self-awareness, unlocking the creative impulse, developing performance skills and expertise, while simultaneously building a secure level of confidence and comfort in front of the microphone.

Powers directs his Professional Voiceover Workshop only occasionally, as time permits.  They are never advertised yet word manages to get out through the grapevine.  They have always filled up quickly and then a waiting list is begun.

Unfortunately, securing a place in the workshop has all too often been the arbitrary result of a person inquiring at just the right moment, while some others who may have inquired previously were unintentionally passed over.

With the establishment of this website, however, we have hopefully and finally struck upon an open and fair system of workshop enrollment.

While there are no workshops currently scheduled, there is a concerted effort being currently made, however, to schedule one workshop for 2007.  This will most likely be scheduled for one intensive weekend with Wayne's Los Angeles Voiceover Agent and a top producer at a professional recording studio in Charlotte, North Carolina.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the form below and you will be notified when the next workshop is forming, with full particulars regarding dates, times, location, tuition, etc.  This is a registration to receive notification only and does not guarantee you a place nor will it enroll you in the workshop.

After notice has been sent out, places will then be held for those interested strictly in the order in which responses are received.
